What our 2025 summer intern gained:
Office of Finance:
“This week in the Office of Finance, I explored roles in general operations, managerial accounting, cost allocation, grants, and financial accounting. I had considered a career in finance before this internship but was still unsure—this week confirmed that finance truly aligns with my goals and interests. Despite the team’s heavy workload, everyone is supportive and genuinely happy to be here. From day one, I felt welcomed, as if I’d been part of the team for years. I have no suggestions—a place this well-run and positive speaks for itself.”
Secretary’s Office:
“This week, I attended committee meetings at the State Capitol and observed how the office collaborates with legislators. I gained insight into how the Secretary’s office prepares official documentation and communicates proposed changes, especially those focused on improving operations within the Department of Human Services. This experience gave me a clearer understanding of the policy process and the role of administrative coordination in state government.”
